The Reality of Practicing Leadership Skills among Heads of Scientific Departments in the Colleges of Lahej University from the Point of View of the Faculty Members

The current study aimed to know the reality of practicing leadership skills among the heads of scientific departments in the colleges of Lahej University from the point of view of the faculty members. The researcher used the descriptive approach, and the study sample consisted of (124) faculty members from all the colleges of Lahej University, which are 5 colleges. To achieve the objectives of the study, the researcher prepared a questionnaire, which consists of 5 areas (communication skill, delegation skill, decision-making skill, motivation skill, and technical skill). After verifying its validity and reliability, he distributed it to the sample. The most important results reached by the study: The reality of the availability of leadership skills among the heads of scientific departments in the colleges of Lahej University from the point of view of faculty members obtained a high level of availability with a mean of (3.86). Thus, the decision-making skill is the most available skill among the heads of scientific departments in the colleges of Lahej University, while the least available is the motivation skill. There are no statistically significant differences between the averages of the sample members' responses to the study areas attributed to the variables of gender, academic title, and years of service. On the other hand, there are statistically significant differences between the averages of the sample members' responses to all study areas attributed to the college variable; these differences were in favor of Saber College of Sciences and Education.
